Blessing of the Fleet
The Blessing of the Fleet tradition began centuries ago in Mediterranean fishing communities. The blessing was meant to ensure a safe and bountiful season. The event we have today was brought by immigrants who held strongly to their religious beliefs. The ritual varies by community and ranges from a simple ceremony to a multi-day feast.
