Fort Monroe is a National Park with a rich history and significance to the Hampton Roads region, Virginia, and the Nation.  The former Army post is now open to the public and hosts historic landmarks like the fort and moat, the Casemate Museum, and the Chamberlain.  A boardwalk, beaches, and fishing piers provide sweeping views along the entrance to Hampton Roads, Thimble Shoals, and the Chesapeake Bay.  See the National Park Service site at  https://www.nps.gov/fomr/index.htm
